Setup and User Manual — Android

1. Mount the controller

  1. Make approximately 13–14 mm of space between the handlebar grip and the switch cluster.

  2. Remove the protective paper from the supplied rubber strip.

  3. Place the rubber strip around the handlebar.

  4. Position the controller at a comfortable angle.

  5. Tighten the clamp using a 4 mm hex key.

Important: Do not overtighten. Stop when the controller is secure but can still be rotated slightly by hand.

 

2. Install the Remotek app

  1. Download the Remotek app from Google Play.

  2. Open the app and accept the required permissions.

  3. Enable the Remotek Accessibility Service:

    • Open the phone’s accessibility settings.

    • Select Installed apps.

    • Select Remotek.

    • Turn the service on.

  4. Enable Show on-screen keyboard when a physical keyboard is connected.

  5. Allow notifications so the app can show profile changes.

  6. Allow phone-call access if you want to answer or reject calls using the controller.

Menu names may vary slightly between Android devices.

 

3. Select your apps

  1. Open the Profile tab in the Remotek app.

  2. Select the navigation apps you want to control.

  3. Arrange the apps in your preferred order.

  4. If required, select a media app for music or radio control.

 

4. Pair the controller

  1. Wake the controller by pressing any button.

  2. Open the Controller tab in the Remotek app.

  3. Allow access to nearby devices when requested.

  4. Tap Pair Controller.

  5. Select RT XXX from the list. The final three digits should match the number printed on your controller.

  6. Wait until the controller shows as connected.

If the controller does not appear, make sure you have the latest version of the Remotek app.

 

5. Check the firmware

  1. Open the Controller tab in the Remotek app.

  2. Check whether a firmware update is available.

  3. Select Update if required.

  4. Leave the phone and controller untouched until the update finishes.

The update normally takes about one minute.

 

Using the controller

The controller is delivered locked in the Map profile. Keep it locked while learning the basic controls.

Functions can vary slightly between navigation apps.

 

Using multiple nav apps          

Select the apps you want in the Remotek app first. Double-click Arrow Up to cycle through the selected navigation apps.

Media profile

Unlock profile switching

Press and hold Arrow Up + Arrow Down together for approximately one second.

  • Green LED: Profile switching is unlocked.

  • Red LED: Profile switching is locked.

 

Switch profiles

Perform a click-hold on Arrow Up:

  1. Click and release Arrow Up.

  2. Immediately press Arrow Up again.

  3. Hold it for one or two seconds.

LED indication:

  • One green flash: Map profile

  • Two green flashes: Media profile

If you only use one profile, lock the controller in that profile to prevent accidental switching.

 

Phone calls

If call permission was granted:

  • Press Arrow Up to answer an incoming call.

  • Press Arrow Down to reject or end a call.

Only use these functions when it is safe to do so.

 

App-specific setup

DMD2

  1. Open DMD2 Settings.

  2. Select Setup Remote Controller.

  3. Assign the desired controller buttons to the available functions.

 

OsmAnd

  1. Open:
    Settings → Browse Map → General Settings → External Input Devices

  2. Add a new device type and name it Remotek.

  3. Assign:

    • Double-click Arrow Down to Move to My Location

    • Plus to Zoom In

    • Minus to Zoom Out

  4. Repeat the setup for other OsmAnd profiles if necessary.

 

Stegra

  1. Open Settings → Controller Settings.

  2. Record the required controller commands:

    • Double-click Arrow Down for Recenter

    • Plus and Minus for zoom

  3. Assign other double-click actions if desired.

 

Charging and power

The Remotek Edge has a USB-C rechargeable battery designed to last for many months between charges.

There is no normal on/off switch:

  • The controller enters sleep mode automatically.

  • Press any button to wake it.

 

Charge the controller before a long trip or extended period of use.

 

Troubleshooting

The controller is connected but does not respond

  1. Remove and re-pair the bluetooth connection on the phone/tablet.

 

The buttons perform the wrong functions

You may be in the wrong profile.

Perform a click-hold on Arrow Up:

  • One green flash means Map profile.

  • Two green flashes mean Media profile.

  • A red flash means profile switching is locked.

Unlock it by holding Arrow Up + Arrow Down together.

 

The controller will not connect

  1. Remove or forget the controller in the phone’s Bluetooth settings.

  2. Hold Arrow Up + Plus + Minus together for approximately 5–8 seconds.

  3. Release the buttons when the LED flashes red and green.

  4. Pair the controller again through the Remotek app.

This reset resolves most connection problems.

 

The selected app does not open

  1. Open the phone’s accessibility settings.

  2. Turn the Remotek Accessibility Service off.

  3. Turn it on again.

  4. Reopen the Remotek app and check your selected apps.

 

Important safety information

Use the controller only for simple functions that do not distract you from riding.

Do not navigate menus, change complicated settings or configure apps while the motorcycle is moving. Stop in a safe place before performing tasks that require attention.

The controller is not currently intended for controlling apps through Apple CarPlay or Android Auto.

FAQ

  • How often must I charge the battery?​

    • It will last for months, but we recommend to charge it every second month.​ 

  • How do I turn the controller on and off?

    • You don't. It goes into sleep and deep sleep by itself, and you wake it by clicking any button.​​

  • I have trouble connecting or using the controller, what do I do?

    • Remove the bluetooth connection and reset controller by holding the arrow up, plus and minus buttons in at the same time for about 6-8 seconds until the led flashes green and red, then connect the controller again in Bluetooth. That solves many issues, but read the Trouble shooting section above if you still have issues.

  • The controller does not work as it should in Stegra, DMD2 or Osmand?

    • Check the section above: Using the controller for specific app settings​​​

  • The controller is connected but does not work (upon reconnect after being seperated for a while)

    • Go to your phone bluetooth settings and remove and re-pair the bluetooth connection.​

  • What about the warranty?

    • We guarantee that the controller will last for years, and if it does not, we will replace it within three years from purchase. 

    • We will also replace most parts that are damaged, and often the whole controller if you have been unlucky.​

  • The Select function does not work in menus, why not?

    • We have not included that function, because from a safety aspect you should not ride and scroll menus. The controller is to help you do basic tasks on the screen without taking your attention of the road. Menus, scrolling, Facebook updates and more should be done while being parked along the road.​

  • ​Does the controller work with Garmin units?

    • Yes, but per now only with Garmin Tread SxS and Overland. You will need a special firmware for this. Let us know and will will send it to you.​

  • Does the controller work with Apple Carplay and/or Android Auto?

    • No, not per now. We are looking into this.​
