RT One Controller User Manual

Firmware Update v2.0.0 and v2.1.0 Changes

Key Changes in v2.0.0:

  • There are now only two profiles:

    • Map Profile

    • Media Profile

  • iOS and Android-specific settings in the Map Profile have been removed.

  • Locking/Unlocking Profiles:

    • Hold Arrow Up + Arrow Down to lock or unlock the controller in the current profile.

  • DMD2 Profile Removed:

    • DMD2 is now managed through the main Map Profile.

  • Garmin Tread Users:

    • A special firmware version with an extra profile is available via our app.

New Feature in v2.1.0:

  • Double-click Arrow Up = sends “N” keystroke.

  • Double-click Arrow Down = sends “K” keystroke.

    • Usable in various apps within the main profile.

Android Setup

1. Install the App

  • Download and launch the Remotek app.

2. Enable Accessibility Settings

  • Go to Settings > Installed Apps.

  • Turn Accessibility Services ON for Remotek.

3. Configure Keyboard

  • Set the on-screen keyboard to appear when a text field is selected with the controller connected.

4. Choose Profiles

  • In the app’s Profile Tab:

    • Choose apps for Map Profile (supported apps appear first).

    • Optionally set a default app for the Media Profile.

Connecting the Controller (Android)

  1. Wake the Controller by pressing any button.

  2. In the Controller Tab of the app:

    • Grant Bluetooth permission.

    • Click Pair Controller.

    • Select RT One XXX (matching the last 3 digits on your controller).

  3. Check Firmware:

    • If not already on v2.0.0, update in the app.

    • Allow a minute for the update—do not interact with your phone or controller.

Using the Controller (Android)

Basic Use (Map Profile)

  • Default Behavior: Controller starts locked in Map Profile.

  • Switch between Map Apps: Double-click Arrow Right.

  • Map Controls:

    • Pan: Arrow buttons

    • Zoom: Plus/Minus

    • Recenter Map: Double-click Arrow Left

If map use is your only requirement, you're done—enjoy the ride!

Unlocking Media Profile

  1. Hold Arrow Up + Arrow Down until green LED flashes (unlocked).

  2. Repeat to lock (red LED flash).

  3. While unlocked:

    • Switch Profiles: Click + Hold Arrow Up

      • One green flash = Map Profile

      • Two green flashes = Media Profile

Media Profile Controls

  • Arrow Left/Right: Previous/Next track

  • Plus/Minus: Volume

  • Arrow Up/Down: Screen brightness

  • Double-click Arrow Down: Play/Pause

Roadbook users: Lock the controller in Media Profile to avoid accidental profile switching during races.

iOS Setup

No Remotek app for iOS yet. Use an Android phone to update firmware if needed.

1. Update Firmware

  • Borrow an Android phone.

  • Download Remotek, connect controller, and update to the latest firmware.

2. Bluetooth Pairing

  • On iOS, go to Settings > Bluetooth.

  • Connect to RT One XXX (matching digits on back).

Note: iOS sees the controller as a keyboard, so the on-screen keyboard may not appear. To fix:

  • Turn the screen off/on, or disable Bluetooth temporarily when typing.

3. Configure Accessibility

  • Go to:
    Settings > Accessibility > Keyboards > Full Keyboard Access > Commands

  • Remove all Arrow key bindings to enable map panning.

Using the Controller (iOS)

Map Profile Controls

  • Arrow Buttons: Pan

  • Plus/Minus: Zoom

  • Double-click Arrow Left: Recenter Map

Unlock Media Profile

  • Hold Arrow Up + Down until green LED flashes.

  • Repeat to lock (red LED).

Switch Profiles

  • Click + Hold Arrow Up

    • One green flash = Map Profile

    • Two flashes = Media Profile

Media Profile Controls

  • Arrow Left/Right: Skip/Previous track or radio channels

  • Plus/Minus: Volume

  • Arrow Up/Down: Brightness

  • Double-click Arrow Down: Play/Pause

Roadbook Apps

  • Use Arrow Left/Right and Plus/Minus for scroll and trip adjustments in apps like RBNavPro.

App Shortcuts on iOS

To open specific apps when switching profiles:

  1. Open Shortcuts app.

  2. Create two shortcuts:

    • One to open your Map app (e.g. Guru Maps)

    • One for your Media app (e.g. Spotify)

  3. Go to:
    Settings > Accessibility > Keyboard > Full Keyboard Access > Commands

  4. Assign:

    • A to the map shortcut (click-hold Arrow Up)

    • B to the media shortcut (click-hold again if needed)

Now, click-hold Arrow Up to toggle between opening your chosen map and media apps.

Supported Apps (as of February 2025)

Android – Map Apps:

  • Guru Maps, Google Maps, Stegra.io, DMD2, MRA, Locus, Osmand, Detecht, Waze, Calimoto, Gaia GPS, Here, Rever, Wikiloc, Backcountry GPS, Topo GPS*, Kurviger*

    • *Some limitations

Android – Cycling Apps:

  • Ride with GPS, Komoot, Strava*, Cyclers*

    • *No relocation support

Android – Media & Roadbook:

  • Most media apps supported

  • Roadbook apps: Piste (recommended)

iOS – Map Apps:

  • Guru Maps, Topo GPS, MRA, Stegra, Pocket Earth*, Osmand*

    • *No relocation

iOS – Media & Roadbook:

  • Most media apps

  • Roadbook apps: RBNavPro (recommended)

Troubleshooting

Remote Not Working?

  • Check if Bluetooth is enabled.

  • Confirm RT One is listed as connected.

Still No Response?

  • Try click-hold Arrow Up to test LED:

    • 1–2 Green flashes = profile switch

    • Red flash = controller is locked

Still Failing?

  1. Reset Controller:

    • Hold Arrow Up + Plus + Minus for 5 seconds (until red/green flash)

  2. Re-pair the controller from Bluetooth settings.

Wrong Profile?

  • If volume buttons work in Map Profile, you're in the wrong profile.

    • Click-hold Arrow Up to switch.

Apps Not Launching?

  • Go to Settings > Accessibility > Open Apps

  • Turn Remotek off and back on.

Controller Dead?

  • Contact us. Return the device and we’ll send a replacement.
